First off, there are 3 main positions and in the game of soccer, and the goalie:
Forward– an offensive line that scores the majority of the game. Fast sprinting skills are needed to take over this position.
Half-back: This position takes part in playing half-forward and half-defense. These players usually assist either position if they’re in trouble. Having stamina and distance running skills are highly recommended to play this position.
Defense– Last line before goalie. This player has a huge responsibility of blocking the opposing team’s ball from the goalie box and from reaching the goalie himself. Their goal is to kick the ball to the offensive zone, so the forward has the opportunity to score.
Goalie– This position’s job is to guard the net and to prevent the other team from scoring goals. Goalies usually need the coordination and agility skills to keep an eye on the ball.
There are many skills to be covered in soccer. Practicing and finding the right soccer coach, can help lead to your long term success.
The common plays such as tackling, passing, and shooting take a little more effort than one anticipates. After mastering the stage of learning all the skills, there are several individual drills that will help improve your game even more.
Ball & A Wall– Kicking a ball against the wall and simply controlling it back and forth is certainly a way to help improve your stamina and agility.
Kick-ups: The point of this drill is to keep the ball in the air as long as possible without letting it touch the ground.
Target Practice– Find a place you can use as a target. Then use your passing and shooting skills to kick the ball at the target. The goal is to shoot at the target as far back as you can.
